Larch is one of the most durable native European woods, with a feel that is truly its own. We deliberately chose the cube size so that sitting in the playpit creates a gentle massage effect and helps children sense their own bodies more clearly. Together with the padded foam playpit, this creates a protected space where children can sink in and settle down. We give a 2-year warranty on the wood - with normal use, the material lasts practically indefinitely.

We deliberately don't fill the playpit to the brim - that's part of the design. For example, the 31-inch playpit comes with 15 lb of cubes. Paradoxically, a completely full playpit makes play less flexible: kids can no longer really scoop, layer or build paths. The looser fill leaves exactly the open space that keeps play exciting for a long time. If you'd like more material, you can add extra Creative Cubes at any time.
